Cleveland Heights is buzzing with excitement for local lepidopterists and nature enthusiasts as the City Hall announces an upcoming event designed to spread the wings of knowledge about our fluttering friends. According to a social media post by the City of Cleveland Heights, Ohio - City Hall, the "Bringing Nature Home" program invites locals to open their eyes to the variety of butterflies that call their backyards home, rather than just the famous monarchs known for their epic migrations.
Set to take place on Saturday, February 7, from 10 am to Noon, the event features Mary Lynn Delfino, a passionate citizen scientist who has managed to regularly observe the unsung heroes of the butterfly world right here in Ohio. Delfino's talk promises to reveal her experiences and findings from her voluntary butterfly monitoring. As per the call to the community, attendees can learn about the full spectrum of these winged wonders that rise from our own gardens. Meanwhile, local experts plan to also generously share their expertise on creating vital native habitats in both public and private green spaces.
Hosted by Friends of Heights Parks and the Cleveland Heights Department of Parks and Recreation, this free educational talk is an effort to inspire residents to cultivate attractive and sustainable landscapes—spaces that can support native wildlife throughout the seasons. Event information and registration details are currently available on the Friends of Heights Parks website for those interested in participating in this ecologically forward initiative.
