The City of Cleveland, in anticipation of severe cold weather, is taking proactive measures to ensure the well-being of its residents by opening warming centers on Thursday, January 1, from 11:30 am to 10:00 pm. The centers are a temporary refuge to provide comfort and prevent the health risks associated with extreme cold temperatures. City of Cleveland - City Hall highlighted the availability of these centers on social media, emphasizing the community resources in place to aid those in need.
For individuals requiring shelter after hours, the city advises calling 211 for assistance. This service connects people to various shelters and housing options according to individual needs, ensuring that no one is without a place to stay during this icy spell. In the case that overnight shelter is necessary, transportation will be provided to nearby men's or women's shelters, which are equipped to offer overnight services.
Following the operation of warming centers on Thursday, Cleveland's recreation centers will return to their normal working hours, starting from 11:30 am to 8:00 pm on Friday, January 2. These centers will also welcome anyone seeking refuge from the cold during these specified hours.
