The Shelby County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) reported the arrest of Antonio F. Humphrey, a 45-year-old convicted felon, on charges of theft after a stolen pickup truck was discovered and subsequently recovered in late December. According to the social media post by the Shelby County Sheriff's Office, detectives began their investigation following a burglary report on December 2, 2025, where the truck, valued between $4,000 and $5,000, went missing from the 6100 block of Old Tipton Road.
Detectives made a break in the case after finding the stolen vehicle listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace. The vehicle was later located parked on the 4400 block of Charleston-Mason Road in Tipton County. Shelby County Sheriff’s Office deputies coordinated with local authorities, leading to a joint operation involving the SCSO Property Crimes Unit, the BRAT (Burglary, Robbery, and Auto Theft) Unit, and the Tipton County Sheriff’s Office. On December 30, officers executed a search warrant at a residence and detained Humphrey, who was later arrested and charged with theft of property valued between $2,500 and $10,000.
During the search, deputies seized several firearms, including a Charter Arms Bulldog .44 revolver, a Jimenez Arms 9mm pistol reported stolen from the Tuscaloosa Police Department, and a Palmetto State Armory AR-style pistol. Officers also recovered a key programming diagnostic tool and adapter kit, which are commonly associated with vehicle theft.
Sheriff Floyd Bonner Jr. acknowledged the work of the Property Crimes and BRAT units and thanked Tipton County authorities for their assistance. Authorities said Humphrey’s status as a convicted felon could result in additional charges in Tipton County related to firearm possession and theft-related equipment. The stolen truck was recovered and returned to its owner.
