The Department of Public Works has been working hard to reduce the amount of salt used on City of Cudahy streets. This effort saves resources while also protecting the environment, according to the City of Cudahy.
During Salt Week, we’re highlighting the steps taken to keep roads safe and clean while using less salt. Smarter salting practices show that more salt does not mean safer or cleaner roads, as reported by the City of Cudahy.
Using too much salt leads to more waste, pollution, damage, and injuries. Excess salt wastes money, harms plants and wildlife (including Lake Michigan), corrodes vehicles and streets, and can injure pets’ paws.
