Hawaii Governor Josh Green has appointed Daisy Hartsfield as the new State Representative for House District 36, filling the seat vacated by Rachele Lamosao's move to the Senate. Hartsfield, a lifelong resident of Waipahu and Village Park, brings extensive experience in public service and community engagement, according to the Office of the Governor.
Governor Green praised Hartsfield, saying, "She understands the challenges facing working families, kūpuna and our most vulnerable neighbors." A Waipahu High School graduate, Hartsfield holds degrees in Psychology, Social Work, and Law, and has worked as a Child Protective Services investigator, deputy prosecuting attorney, and volunteer assisting residents with clearing criminal records, as reported by the Office of the Governor.
Hartsfield, known for her work in increasing Filipino representation in Hawaii’s judiciary, focuses on protecting vulnerable individuals, supporting families, and ensuring fairness in the state’s social service and justice systems. She said, "I’m honored and grateful for the opportunity to serve the community that shaped who I am," and added, "Waipahu is built on strong families and a deep sense of connection, and I’m committed to listening, being present, and working hard on the issues that matter most to our community." She was sworn in on January 21 and will serve the remainder of the term through November 2026, addressing issues like the cost of living, care for keiki and kūpuna, and support for small businesses, as stated by the Office of the Governor.
