The City of Dallas is rolling out the welcome mat for residents to lend their voice in a series of public meetings focused on the planning of the FY 2026-27 HUD Consolidated Plan Budget, as announced by the city's Budget & Management Services - Grant Administration. The goal is clear: to gather community feedback that will steer the distribution of funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) towards programs that uplift Dallas neighborhoods.

"Your input is critical to ensuring that federal funds are used effectively to support programs that improve the quality of life for Dallas residents," reads a statement provided by the City of Dallas. The meetings are structured to tap into the pulse of the community, shedding light on which programs should get a share of the federal pie.

For those eager to pitch in, there's no shortage of options. The meetings are scheduled to accommodate various preferences—both in-person and virtual formats are available. Starting Thursday, January 8, at Dallas City Hall, the sessions will continue at various locations, including Marcus Annex Recreation Center and Harry Stone Recreation Center, with an agenda that even includes a virtual meeting specifically focused on HOPWA on January 13.

But the dialogue doesn't end at face-to-face interactions. To cast a wider net of inclusivity, the city has included a Telephone Townhall on Thursday, January 22, for which Dallasites can register and pitch in from the comfort of their own phones. As noted by the City of Dallas, "Your feedback will help guide the allocation of HUD funding for vital programs such as affordable housing, community development, and public services." Those interested in influencing the investments Dallas makes into its neighborhoods should not pass up the chance to participate.
