An armed man was shot by Dallas police officers last Saturday in the east Oak Cliff neighborhood, as reported by officials. The incident occurred in the 1200 block of Presidio Avenue, where the Dallas police were responding to a 911 call about a man discharging a firearm.
Upon arrival, the police were faced with an armed individual on the street. The department spokesperson explained that "The officers gave the man loud verbal commands for him to drop the weapon," information that was detailed in a FOX 4 News report. The suspect, however, refused to quickly comply, prompting officers to open fire, striking him at least once.
The officers administered first aid at the scene before Dallas Fire Rescue took over and transported the man to the hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition. No officers sustained injuries during this confrontation. As per a DFW Scanner article, investigators found two pistols at the scene. It remains to be determined by the investigation how many shots the man fired before police intervention and whether any homes in the vicinity were hit.
