The City of Dearborn, in partnership with Friends of the Rouge, is hosting workshops to teach homeowners how to create rain gardens. These gardens help manage stormwater, reduce flooding, and support local plants and wildlife.

The program offers two options: a free introductory Rain Garden 101 workshop or a five-week Master Rain Gardener Certification Course. The City of Dearborn advises residents to register early, as spots are limited.

The free, hour-long Rain Garden 101 workshop covers the basics of rain gardens and native plants, with sessions at the Henry Ford Centennial Library Auditorium on February 21 and July 18, 2026. The five-week Master Rain Gardener program provides hands-on training based on over 2,000 real-world installations. Graduates receive professional certification, a t-shirt, and a yard sign.

Registration is first-come, first-served. Interested individuals can sign up through Friends of the Rouge.
