DeKalb County authorities will open warming centers starting Wednesday, January 13, to provide shelter for individuals exposed to freezing temperatures and low wind chills. DeKalb County officials announced that overnight warming centers will operate from 6:00 p.m. tomorrow, through Friday. Locations include the Exchange Park Intergenerational Center in Decatur and Frontline Response International in Atlanta, among others. Certain sites will remain open 24 hours on Thursday and Friday to provide continuous access to warmth and safety.

Transportation to the warming centers is being provided, with Frontline Response Headquarters serving as the starting point for multiple shuttle routes. Pickups are scheduled to end by 7:30 p.m., while final sweeps to ensure all individuals are reached will continue until 10 p.m. These services are available for people without stable housing.

The warming centers at Exchange Park Intergenerational Center and Frontline Response International will operate continuously from Thursday to Friday, providing shelter and support during the cold weather. According to the county’s announcement, the centers are open to anyone seeking refuge from the winter conditions.

The warming centers are managed by Frontline Response International, contracted by DeKalb County to provide services during extreme weather. Individuals needing assistance or wishing to use the centers can arrive directly at Frontline HQ starting at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
