
A Tarrant County jury has delivered a verdict in the case of Devoreia Thompson, convicting him on charges of aggravated assault against a public servant, and sentencing him to a lengthy prison term. According to the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office, Thompson, age 34, has been sentenced to serve 26 years behind bars for the violent confrontation that occurred on May 19, 2024, when Thompson was stopped by Fort Worth police as a shooting suspect.
Caught in a harrowing exchange, Thompson stepped out of his vehicle and fired upon the officer, resulting in the officer being struck by glass shards and debris. The commendable efforts of the Fort Worth Police Department were acknowledged by the DA's office, having been instrumental in the case's resolution and Thompson's subsequent conviction. The trial and conviction of Thompson unveiled the narrative of an individual whose actions endangered the lives of those sworn to protect the community.
