The City of Dublin continues to uphold its reputation for fiscal responsibility, as it bags the ‘Triple Crown’ award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for the fourth year in a row. This award is no small feat, it signifies a city's dedication to comprehensive financial reporting, clear communication to its citizens, and accessible budgeting practices. For a city, earning the Triple Crown means meeting high standards in three major financial areas, all within the same fiscal year. So when Dublin achieves this repeatedly, it’s clear that they're doing something right.
According to a press release from the City of Dublin, these areas include the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, the Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award, and the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. Awarded to them by the GFOA, these distinct recognitions come with high praise and are a clear indicator that Dublin’s finance team is committed to keeping their city’s financial health in the green. In an attempt to engage with their residents and businesses in a transparent manner, all of Dublin's award-winning financial documents are published on the city’s official website.
Echoing the sentiments of the City's financial dedication, Dublin's Chief Financial Officer/Director of Finance Matt Rubino stated, "This recognition from the GFOA reflects the City’s ongoing commitment to fiscal health, transparency, accountability and reporting best practices." Rubino, pride laced within each word, also noted that this success is a direct reflection of the finance team's hard work and the city's efforts to manage public resources effectively, as per the statement obtained by the City of Dublin's official news release.
A bit more about the GFOA: it’s a nonprofit association that looks after about 17,500 government finance professionals in the U.S. and Canada. Their awards program is specifically designed to encourage governments, such as the city of Dublin, to aim higher than the baseline standards of accounting principles, in order to fully embrace transparency and disclosure. All designed to keep the public trust intact. With this fourth Triple Crown award in the trophy case, Dublin underlines its straight-shooting and strategic approach to its financial future.
And regarding Dublin itself, it's more than just an Ohio city with a knack for numbers. Home to approximately 50,000 residents, Dublin boasts superior services, direct highway access, a robust park system, and strategic planning that includes innovation and technology at its core. Not to mention its perch as the number one small city in Ohio and one of the safest in the nation, as well as its housing for more than 20 corporate headquarters. They're not just crunching numbers, they're building a city that rises above the standard, which seems to be something they do best in more ways than one.
