The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Missouri, led by U.S. Attorney Thomas C. Albus, reported collections of over $16 million in fiscal year 2025 from civil and criminal actions. This total includes $14,077,382 from criminal cases and $1,992,993 from civil cases. A notable portion of these funds came from efforts to combat fraud, including more than $1 million recovered in a single case involving Medicare and Medicaid, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

In collaboration with other U.S. Attorney’s Offices and Department of Justice components, the Eastern District of Missouri contributed to the recovery of an additional $76,319,861 from jointly pursued cases. Of this total, $76,045,494 came from civil actions. According to a statement from the Department of Justice, U.S. Attorney Thomas C. Albus emphasized the office’s commitment to recovering funds for victims, even in cases that extend over multiple years.

One notable case involved Michael McCormac, the former owner of a mail-order pharmacy, from whom $1,323,318 was recovered. McCormac admitted to violating the Anti-Kickback Statute by offering kickbacks for prescription generation. In another case, two Jefferson County chiropractors were involved in a disability fraud investigation, resulting in the recovery of $2.9 million in 2025 from this ongoing matter.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office also pursued asset forfeiture actions, recovering $5,420,367 in fiscal year 2025. These funds were returned to victims and supported various law enforcement initiatives. Additionally, the office obtained forfeiture of 334 firearms used in criminal activities as part of its efforts to enhance public safety.
