Early morning chaos erupted in an El Paso County neighborhood when deputies responded to a 911 call regarding an armed individual threatening residents on Wando Drive. The El Paso County Sheriff's Office deputies were swiftly on the scene after the call came in around 4:00 AM on January 18, according to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office. An adult male was reportedly wielding a weapon inside a residence, instigating a dangerous confrontation.
A witness, having narrowly managed to escape the premises, informed deputies that he had to climb quickly out of an upstairs window to avoid being assaulted by the suspect. Inside the home, the suspect was reported to have actively "stabbing people" per the testimony of the frightened witness. Deputies entered the residence and took 18-year-old Isaac Emilio Molina Jr. into custody without further incident.
Investigations revealed that the so-called weapon was in truth a pair of kitchen shears. Despite the lack of actual stab wounds on the victims, the residence bore evidence of the suspect's attack with the shears. The suspect, based on the account of the victim who was chased and descriptions by witnesses, was arrested and given multiple charges, including Attempted Homicide and Child Abuse. El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal praised his deputies, stating, "This was a volatile and dangerous situation, and I am grateful for the quick, decisive actions of our deputies to take the suspect into custody without further harm," as per the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.
Molina is now facing several serious charges, including Attempted Homicide, Felony Menacing, Reckless Endangerment, Criminal Mischief, and Child Abuse. He was transported to the El Paso County Jail, where he is currently being held on a $15,000 bond. The Sheriff's Office's handling of the incident has been noted to likely have prevented a much more grievous outcome, ensuring the safety of the community and emphasizing the law enforcement's dedication to protect and to serve.
