
Residents of Elyria can breathe a little easier after local law enforcement has reopened East Avenue following a tense standoff early this morning. According to a social media update from the Elyria Police Department, both the patrol and tactical units have cleared the scene and deemed it safe for travel, following a confrontation that was part of an ongoing investigation.
The situation unfolded when the Special Response Team, accompanied by the Investigative Division, were compelled to take action on a residence along the 1300 block of East Avenue, executing a search warrant in relation to earlier reports of shots being fired the community remained on edge as streets were closed off and the air was thick with uncertainty but finally, two suspects have been taken into custody, shedding some light on the incident and contributing to what neighbors hope is a resolution.
Authorities, while remaining tight-lipped on the finer details of the operation, have assured the public that the investigation is active and ongoing.
