Firefighters from CAL FIRE/San Diego County Fire and North County Fire were called to the scene at approximately 11:20 p.m., according to an Instagram post by @calfiresandiego. When they arrived, they found two vehicles involved in the incident—one with significant rear end damage on the roadway, and a second vehicle found roughly 400 feet down an embankment.
Despite finding the second vehicle in a precarious position, firefighters initiated a technical rescue to reach the occupant. USAR 12 was accessed to extricate the patient, and was safely completed within 47 minutes. The individual was then transported to a waiting ambulance, as noted in the CAL FIRE/San Diego County Fire social media post.
