Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport experienced delays and cancellations on Monday morning because of dense fog that made visibility unsafe. The Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop, keeping flights from taking off at their airports, according to WSBTV.
By 11 a.m., dense fog had caused over 500 flight delays and 40 cancellations at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, hitting Delta Airlines hardest with 340 delays and 21 cancellations, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta. The Federal Aviation Administration implemented a ground stop, allowing planes to land but preventing departures until the advisory expired at 10 a.m.
Average delays were around 25 minutes, and the disruption affected travelers and airline staff throughout the day. As flights resumed, schedules began to recover, though lingering delays were expected due to the morning's interruption.
