Fort Collins drivers should prepare for delays as the City Streets Department kicks off a series of repairs on South Lemay Avenue, starting from Jan. 19 through Jan. 23, according to a recent announcement. The stretch of road between East Horsetooth Road and East Harmony Road will see concrete repairs initially, which is to be the first step in a broader maintenance plan that encompasses utility fixes and asphalt milling, with paving set for later in the year. As a result, lane closures will be the norm during the entirety of the construction period.
Motorists navigating the area will need to look out for shifting traffic patterns, as the project is predicted to impact the usual flow of vehicles; despite the inconvenience, access to local businesses shall remain uninterrupted. The city anticipates these disruptions could span three to four weeks, but, like so much of life, this is hinged on the cooperation of the weather, as the City of Fort Collins states.
Typical work hours will see the construction crews on-site from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday; however, it's worth noting the city does not rule out the possibility of weekend work or activities outside these windows of time, with the aspiration to accelerate the project's completion. Consequently, it's suggested that drivers consider alternate routes to bypass the construction zone and mitigate some of their own travel delays.
