While some might stick to building a snowman on a snow day, a Fort Worth artist has raised the stakes – or rather, the steaks – with a Texan twist on winter art. Paul Miller, owner of Stellar Ice and a professional ice sculptor, took it upon himself to carve not just a snowman but a bucking bull ice sculpture, an ode to Texas culture and Fort Worth’s own rodeo roots. According to a CBS News article, Miller said, "Stockshow rodeo, going on a bucking bull, would be a good way to represent Fort Worth and Texas."

Despite the juxtaposition of frigid art in typically warm Texas, the chilly weather provided the perfect conditions for Miller’s creation. The ice bull sculpted from three large blocks of ice stands as a testament to Miller’s pivot from chef to ice artist. Neighbors, drawn by the spectacle and social media buzz, came to witness the piece come to life – a transformative process Miller has nurtured from a simpler time. "Filled a trash can and packed it with snow and filled it with water, flipped it over, and I had a block and I carved it into a gorilla," Miller recounted, per CBS News, tracing the evolution of his wintery craft.

The neighborhood was transformed into what one could easily call a true Texas winter wonderland under Miller’s steady hand and chainsaw. Ray Flores, a resident and one of the many spectators, shared his excitement with NBC DFW, remarking on the community turnout to view the piece. Miller's work embodies a blend of quick creativity and shared joy, as he pointed out the immediate magic and art of his craft, saying, "The fact that I can quickly, in a few hours, make some magic and art and see all the people come by with smiles on their faces taking pictures," according to CBS News.
