Garland residents can now exhale a collective sigh of relief as city facilities prepare to throw open their doors this Thursday, following several days of closure due to harsh weather conditions. According to a recent post from the City of Garland, various public buildings including City Hall, Charles E. Duckworth Building, Ronald E. Jones Municipal Building, and Brad Neighbor Municipal Court are set to welcome the public beginning at 8 a.m. on Jan. 29. For those looking to escape cabin fever and dive into some recreational activities or literature, note that the city's recreation centers and libraries are slated to open later at noon.

In addition to building access, the city is also set to quickly resume its waste management operations. Service routes have been adjusted to truly ensure all collections are made promptly. "Tuesday routes will be collected on Thursday, Jan. 29," explains the City of Garland, with subsequent collections for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday routes pushed forward to Friday, Jan. 30, Saturday, Jan. 31, and Monday, Feb. 2, respectively. Those needing to rid themselves of excess waste due to the delay don't need to fret – the Hinton Landfill is extending its hours to accommodate the backlog.

The community's patience has not gone unnoticed, with the City of Garland extending its gratitude for the cooperation throughout this period of inconvenience. The City’s statement also included an appreciative nod to the efforts of all City workers who have played their part amidst the difficult weather conditions, ensuring a prompt and safe return to normalcy.
