Georgia residents Kenneth G. Akpieyi and Emuobosan Emmanuella Hall have been sentenced for their roles in a multi-million dollar romance scam.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office release, Akpieyi, 45, of Marietta, received 25 years in prison, while Hall, 45, of Atlanta, was sentenced to 8 years. The scheme targeted more than 30 women across the U.S., with the defendants posing as love interests on social media to solicit money.

As per the same release, Akpieyi, using the alias "Phillip Anderson," was convicted of conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, mail fraud, and conspiracy to commit money laundering. Hall pleaded guilty in February 2025 and acknowledged responsibility for over $850,000 in victim losses. Their sentences include special assessment fees and supervised release.

A hearing to determine victim restitution is scheduled within 90 days. The investigation involved the FBI and local authorities in Georgia.
