A recent report from the Germantown Police Department provides information on property crimes and arrests in the last days of December. According to the City of Germantown, despite trends of lower thefts and disputes during the holiday season, crime levels remained steady. The report, issued today, lists incidents such as threatening messages, property theft, physical altercations, and illegal possession of firearms and narcotics.
On December 26, a series of property crimes occurred, beginning with threatening text messages in the morning and continuing with multiple shoplifting incidents, which led to three arrests on the same block of Poplar Avenue. Additionally, one person reported property stolen from a vehicle on South Germantown Road. The report indicates that December 27 was a quiet day, with no offenses recorded, which is less typical for the holiday period.
Over the weekend and into the following week, the police blotter recorded a hotel theft on Sunday morning, along with additional cases of identity theft on Monday and Wednesday. Several arrests were also made in connection with shoplifting, physical altercations, and illegal possession of firearms and drug paraphernalia. Identity theft was reported in at least four separate incidents during the week.
As the New Year approached, another hotel room theft was reported. The city also recorded 13 traffic crashes, a relatively high number for this period when traffic usually declines. The Germantown Police Department continues to track incidents and their outcomes in weekly activity reports. Readers can access additional information and updates through the department’s official reports.
