Hawaiian Airlines, part of the Alaska Airlines family, has announced a hefty $600 million investment plan aimed at upgrading traveler experiences and boosting community and environmental initiatives. Today's unveiling outlined a five-year initiative that includes enhancements to airport facilities, technology overhauls, and aircraft interior retrofits, detailed in the Kahu‘ewai Hawai‘i Investment Plan.

Honolulu, Līhuʻe, Kahului, Kona, and Hilo airports will get modernized lobbies and amenities to improve passenger comfort and streamline guest flow. Hawaiian Airlines will also update its Airbus A330 cabins by 2028 with new seats, ambient lighting, and an advanced in-flight entertainment system featuring Bluetooth connectivity, according to KHON2.

Diana Birkett Rakow, CEO of Hawaiian Airlines, highlighted the importance of the investment, saying, "Hawaiian Airlines is proud to call Hawai‘i home, to reflect the spirit of the islands, care for local guests, welcome visitors, and support our communities." The airline aims to strengthen ties with local culture and the environment, according to Alaska Air's news page.

Travelers can expect digital upgrades, including an improved mobile app and website to simplify booking and trip management. Hawaiian Airlines is also upgrading employee systems to improve operations and guest service. Huaka‘i by Hawaiian members will receive perks, including a 50% bonus on Atmos Rewards points for interisland travel.

The investment also supports community and environmental initiatives through the Alaska Airlines | Hawaiian Airlines Foundation, including local businesses, sustainability, and Native Hawaiian arts and language. Governor Josh Green praised the plan’s benefits for residents, visitors, and Hawaii’s economy, according to KHON2.
