The Hickory Police Department has recently announced the advancement of two of its long-serving officers into higher echelons of its leadership. In an update shared by Hickory's official website, on Sunday, Jeff Young was elevated from his Captain rank to Deputy Chief of Police, and Justin Levey moved up from Lieutenant to Captain and Division Commander of the Support Services Division.

"Deputy Chief Young and Captain Levey have each built a legacy of exceptional service, proving their dedication and commitment to both this department and the citizens we serve," the aforementioned promotion was declared by Hickory Police Chief Bryan Adams. Eager to see them take on their new roles, he also mentioned, "I look forward to watching them thrive in these new positions as they provide the forward-thinking leadership necessary to guide our agency into the future," as noted by the city's website.

Young, a native of Catawba County and alumni of Hickory High School, began his journey at the police department back in 1999, following his service in the United States Marine Corps. Over his tenure, he has filled various roles in the force including as a Patrol Officer, Criminal Investigator, and Division Commander among others. Young, before his recent promotion, was in charge of accreditation and special projects. His academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Lees-McRae College and participation in prestigious programs such as the FBI National Academy.

Similarly, entering the Hickory Police Department in August 2008, beginning his career after serving in the United States Marine Corps was Justin Levey. Levey has, during his time with HPD, served in a multitude of capacities ranging from a Criminal Investigator to the Commander of Baker PACT, and most recently as Community Services Commander before taking up the mantle of Support Services Division Commander. His educational achievements include a Master of Science in Law Enforcement Administration from Columbia College and he's also a graduate of the North Carolina State University's Law Enforcement Executive Program (LEEP).

As per the city release, when not engaged in their professional duties, both men prioritize family time and maintaining an active lifestyle.
