A house fire in Hillsboro on the evening of Jan. 3 led to two adults being displaced and resulted in the tragic loss of four pets. According to KATU, the fire broke out just before 9 p.m. in the 2200 block of Northeast Sunrise Lane. Firefighters from Hillsboro Fire & Rescue arrived at a significant blaze that required an upgrade to a first alarm response.

Both occupants of the house were found outside by responders, with one individual later taken to the hospital to treat non-life-threatening injuries. While six pets were reportedly inside the residence at the time of the incident, four deceased pets were discovered, according to KPTV. Hillsboro Fire investigators are still probing into what caused the fire.

In a coordinated response effort, Hillsboro Police, AMR, and PGE assisted, while the Cornelius Fire Department and Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue handled other calls for emergencies. A public safety chaplain was present at the scene to offer support to those displaced by the blaze.

Simultaneously, about roughly the same time, firefighters in Vancouver confronted a house fire with "heavy fire conditions" on the 4300 block of Southeast 167th Lane. As per OregonLive, the Vancouver Fire Department managed to control that fire within 20 minutes, and though the residents were displaced, no injuries were reported.
