The National Weather Service in Honolulu forecasts generally calm conditions across the Hawaiian Islands, with "Trades are expected to gradually weaken and remain light throughout the forecast period," leading to a land-sea breeze pattern and only isolated showers. High pressure moving eastward and drier air will result in "increasing the overall stability across the state and further limit shower activity along windward areas," according to the National Weather Service.
Pilots can expect smoother conditions as turbulence decreases, with "Expect mostly VFR conditions today," and AIRMET Sierra for mountain obscurations likely to be cancelled. A small chance of modest showers may occur on Kauai by Friday, potentially affecting Oahu over the weekend due to lingering moisture from an earlier weather event, as stated by the National Weather Service.
"Moderate to locally fresh east-southeast winds will prevail across the coastal waters today as a ridge builds north of the region," the National Weather Service reports. A Small Craft Advisory is in effect until this afternoon for Maui County and Big Island windward waters. Winds are expected to ease later, with lighter conditions by the weekend. A northwest swell could bring warning-level surf to northern and western shores today, and another large swell is possible early next week.
