Houston is experiencing an unusual cold snap, with temperatures dropping into the teens and 20s, accompanied by gusty winds of 10–20 mph and gusts up to 30 mph. "We don't talk about low temperature records too often but we're going to be close Monday morning," reports Click2Houston noting the possibility of record-low temperatures.
Residents are advised to take precautions as the chill persists, particularly Monday night, when "we're expecting our final hard freeze Tuesday morning," as stated by Click2Houston. The deep freeze will ease after Tuesday afternoon, but temperatures are not expected to recover until later in the week, with a brief warming on Friday before another cold front brings freezing conditions.
Residents of Houston are bracing for a chilly week, with sunny but brisk days and highs rising into the low 50s by midweek. Showers are expected to develop as the weekend approaches. On Sunday, slightly warmer conditions are expected with a high near 48 degrees, paving the way for a transition into the 60s after an extended cold spell, according to the National Weather Service.
