In Huntersville, a town board meeting was held where the local heroes from different fire departments were honored for their bravery and prompt action in the face of danger. This was reported in a Facebook post from the Huntersville Fire Department, which shed light on the life-saving efforts taken by various firefighters during two separate incidents in 2025.

On August 29, according to the department's post, a crew consisting of Lieutenant Ray Murphy, Firefighter Paul Medieros, Engineer Brandon Johnson, and Assistant Chief Jason Dyer responded to a house fire on Rocky Ford Club Road. Amidst the roaring flames, they worked cohesively to find and rescue an unresponsive resident who was trapped and couldn't escape on their own. Their remarkable teamwork did not go unnoticed as they were awarded a Company Citation for their actions.

Furthermore, as highlighted by the Facebook post, the actions of Murphy and Medieros during the August rescue were recognized with the esteemed Fire Chief Medal of Valor. This distinction acknowledges their extraordinary courage above and beyond the call of duty.

Another fire on October 5 saw multiple crews, including those from Car 3A, Car 5A, Engine 1A, and Ladder 4A, tackling a similar scenario on Rich Hatchett Road. Faced with a house engulfed in flames and a person in dire need of rescue, teamwork was pivotal in saving another Huntersville resident, who was unable to escape without assistance. The collective effort involved Assistant Chief Shane Nantz, Battalion Chief Charles Auten Jr, Captain Chris Massey, Engineer Elijah Estep, Firefighter Corey Logan, Acting Officer Terrell Washington, Jr, Engineer Andrew Sales, and Firefighter Kyle Potochar, all earning them a Company Citation, as the Facebook post from the Huntersville Fire Department narrates.

In recognition of the valor displayed during the October incident, several members of the crew were also bestowed with the Fire Chief Medal of Valor. According to the department's social media statement, their medals were awarded to Battalion Chief Charles Auten Jr, Captain Chris Massey, Engineer Andrew Sales, Firefighter Corey Logan, Acting Officer Terrell Washington, Jr, and Firefighter Kyle Potochar, uniting under extreme circumstances to ensure a life was saved.
