The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is seeking public assistance after a shopper turned a routine return into a theft. The incident occurred last year at a Duclay Forest retail store on Blanding Boulevard. According to the department Facebook post, the individual initially entered the store to make a return but instead stole merchandise valued at $880.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the individual placed empty boxes on a shelf, continued shopping, and then left the store with a sound bar and strip lights without paying. The Office noted that the person initially told an employee they were there to make a return before the incident escalated into theft.

Store employees, noticing something suspicious, asked the individual to show a receipt for the items in their cart. The person refused, left the store without paying, and departed in a silver SUV. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for help in identifying the suspect, offering a possible cash reward for information leading to an arrest and allowing tips to be submitted anonymously.
