In response to public demand, the Kettering Police Department has extended its self-defense program with the introduction of an Advanced Self-Defense (ASD) class, tailored for women who have finished the Basic RAD class. The new offering elevates the existing curriculum by incorporating higher-level techniques meant to deepen participants' self-defense knowledge and proficiency.
Starting in February, the ASD class is structured in three distinct blocks, each focusing on key skills such as combination strikes, advanced kicks, and ground defense. Participants only need to pay for the ones they choose to attend, $15 each block, the department announced on social media. The format is shaped to ensure each block builds upon the last, which necessitates the complete attendance of each to effectively grasp the advancing techniques.
According to the post by the Kettering Police Department, combination techniques will kick off in the February block, followed by a session dedicated to advanced kicks in May, and finally, ground defense takes the stage in August. Each instructional segment runs from 6:00 to 9:00 PM on Tuesdays, adhering to the schedule maintained by previous RAD classes.
However, only those women who have completed the Basic RAD course will be considered eligible to join these advanced sessions, reinforcing the department's commitment to a structured learning environment that incrementally empowers the participants. Registration details and additional class information, including how to secure your spot for the urgently approaching February session, can be found through the provided registration link or by directly reaching out to contact Whittney Selby at her email, as detailed in the official announcement. Spots are limited, emphasizes the Kettering PD, signifying the urgency for interested individuals to act promptly.
