Honolulu police are seeking the public’s assistance after a man entered a Waikiki restaurant office on Kalakaua Avenue on December 14, 2025, threatened the manager with a knife, and demanded she open the office safe. During the incident, the manager sustained several lacerations to her chest, and the suspect fled on foot. Police say the case is under active investigation.
According to Hawaii News Now, the suspect used force to pin the manager against a wooden office cabinet and held a knife to her neck and chest while demanding the code to the safe. Police say he grabbed the manager’s phone and put it in his right jacket pocket, then later tossed it down a hallway when she followed him. She retrieved the phone and called 911. Before walking out of the office and taking off from the area, the suspect allegedly threatened to kill the manager.
Waikiki's Safety Push
The incident lands at a tense time for Waikiki, where businesses and city agencies have been trying to shore up safety for workers and visitors in the busy tourist district. Hoodline previously reported that the Waikiki Business Improvement District rolled out Tactical Safety Ambassadors to boost overnight coverage and supplement programs like Safe & Sound. Local leaders have said a mix of targeted patrols and business-funded initiatives is part of the strategy to respond to recurring violent incidents in the area.
