The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has apprehended a Knox County man in connection with a grim discovery in Roane County. Twenty-seven-year-old Zackary Edward Lowe has been hit with a first-degree murder charge after a body was located in an abandoned structure along Decatur Highway in the Ten Mile area, a quiet rural part of Roane County known for its sprawling farms and tight-knit community.

According to WVLT, the investigation was spearheaded by TBI agents on Monday following a request from 9th Judicial District Attorney General Russell Johnson. It didn't take long before a response was required by the TBI, having found a victim whose identity had not been disclosed, pending the notification of next of kin.

The grim series of events unwound further, as stated by WBIR, after Lowe ostensibly reached out to the Hamblen County Sheriff's Office to confess to a homicide. An affidavit detailed that Lowe took a sinister drive to 4633 Decatur Highway on January 25 to meet the victim. "Lowe said he immediately shot the victim, who was in the yard of the home at the time," according to the affidavit. Lowe admits he was still inside his vehicle on the roadway when he pulled the trigger.

The arrest unfolded shortly after, finding Lowe detained and making his residence in the Roane County Jail without the option for bond. Echoing the tragic findings, WATE shared that the Roane County Sheriff's Office was pivotal in assisting with the investigation.
