The City’s Housing and Neighborhood Development Department is reaching out to residents for their input on the upcoming 2026-2027 Annual Action Plan. A public meeting is slated for Tuesday, Jan. 13, at the Public Works Building located at 3131 Morris Ave, starting 5:30 p.m. There's also an option for those who prefer to contribute from the comfort of their homes; an online attendance link will be made available on the City's website the day before the meeting.
As detailed in an announcement by the City of Knoxville, the upcoming session will play a pivotal role in steering funding decisions related to affordable housing, services for the homeless, and broader community development endeavors. The Annual Action Plan ushers in an update to the Five-Year Consolidated Plan, influencing the utilization of HUD-provided funds, which include the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnerships Act, and the Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) funds.
The department’s staff will occupy the meeting with discussions about priority goals and objectives that stem from its 2025-2029 Five Year Consolidated Plan, a document shaped previously by extensive community engagement in 2024. Attendees will receive insights into unmet needs and gaps that have been identified, alongside a breakdown of anticipated funding for projects and programs intended to start on July 1, 2026.
Moreover, the meeting will outline the process devised for drafting the 2026-2027 Annual Action Plan. It will articulate proposed priority goals and objectives, and how residents may put forward their input. Furthermore, the session will serve as an informative platform for agencies planning to apply for grant funding in order to meet these identified objectives.
