
Lawton's City Council has officially inducted both fresh and familiar faces following today's swearing-in ceremony. With Kirby Brown of Ward 3 and Tiffiney Dimery of Ward 4 taking their oaths of office, alongside Allan Hampton of Ward 5, who steps into his third term, an air of renewal pairs with seasoned governance for the city. According to the City of Lawton's official news release, the ceremony also served as an occasion to honor outgoing members whose efforts have left indelible marks on Lawton.
Mayor Stan Booker's address paid tribute to the outgoing councilmembers, highlighting their contributions to the city's trajectory. While speaking of George Gill, he remarked, "We have identified your strengths and plugged you in where you were the strongest and you’ve made a difference in this community," as stated by the City of Lawton. He added a call for continued involvement from the departing councilman. Booker also lauded Linda Champman's unifying influence on the council, emphasizing her role in propelling Lawton forward.
The presence of continuity within the council was acknowledged, as Hampton was praised for his enduring service. "We appreciate all you have done for this city and your willingness to come back one more term," Mayor Booker said during the ceremon, asper the City of Lawton.
The onboarding of the new council members signifies the commencement of another chapter for the City Council, blending steadfast experience with new viewpoints. The Council voiced their collective enthusiasm for the journey that lies ahead, anticipating the collaborative efforts to advance Lawton.
