Litchfield Park’s Christmas tree recycling program is now underway. Residents can bring natural trees to the Jackie Robinson Ballfield to be processed into mulch, compost, or erosion-control material. The program diverts waste from landfills while benefiting the environment.
According to the City of Litchfield Park, Trees can be dropped off at the Ballfield’s rear parking lot, accessible through the metal swing gates off Camelback Road east of Village Parkway. All decorations, lights, ornaments, tinsel, tree stands, and plastic bags must be removed before disposal. The program runs weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Friday.
Litchfield Park’s recycling program only accepts natural trees. Residents with artificial trees should donate them if in good condition or arrange separate disposal. Some local farms and organizations also accept real trees to create animal habitats or mulch, so checking community boards or social media can help.
Litchfield Park’s tree recycling program gives residents a simple way to practice sustainability. To participate, be sure to remove all decorations before dropping off your tree, helping the city’s green efforts.
