Lotus Cafe quietly made a big move this week, opening a fresh outpost in downtown Kailua and bringing its neighborhood-cafe energy from Kaimuki to Windward Oahu. The compact storefront adds another go-to breakfast-and-lunch stop along Hekili Street, giving Kailua regulars one more place to linger over coffee and a quick bite, as reported by Pacific Business Journal.
According to Pacific Business Journal, the new Kailua Lotus Cafe clocks in at roughly 1,180 square feet and is located at 141 Hekili St in Kailua Town. The outlet reported on the opening Thursday.
On its website, Lotus Cafe describes itself as a locally owned cafe that leans on scratch-made food and locally roasted coffee. The site also notes its original Kaimuki location and promotes private events along with community-focused programming, signaling that the Kailua shop is intended to serve as more than just a grab-and-go counter.
Sorting Out the Hekili Street Address
The address details come with a small Hekili-style twist. An online ordering page lists Lotus Cafe at 143 Hekili Street, per Toast, while Pacific Business Journal cites 141 Hekili St. Slight discrepancies in numbering are not unusual for storefronts and online ordering listings in downtown Kailua, so regulars will likely rely on landmarks as much as street numbers.
From Kaimuki Roots to Kailua Routine
The Kaimuki menu leans on house-baked focaccia, soups and coffee brewed with beans from local growers, according to Lotus Cafe. A Kaimuki profile in HI Now has highlighted the shop's scratch cooking and rotating displays of local art, suggesting the Kailua outpost will follow a similar neighborhood-hangout playbook.
As of Thursday, the cafe had not posted official hours for the Kailua location. Customers looking to time their caffeine run can keep an eye on Lotus Cafe's social channels or the online ordering page for updates. For now, Windward residents and beachgoers can count on at least one thing: there is a new spot in central Kailua for coffee and quick meals.
