
Yesterday morning, a chilling incident took place at the 36th Street subway station in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, where a man was pushed onto the subway tracks. The New York City Police Department is currently pursuing the unidentified suspect responsible for the assault. According to AM New York, the 35-year-old victim was waiting on the southbound R train platform when the assailant, coming from behind, pushed him onto the tracks just before 5 a.m. on January 18.
The victim, fortunately, managed to return to the safety of the platform before the next train arrived and suffered no life-threatening injuries. He was treated for scrapes and abrasions at NYU Langone Hospital, remaining in stable condition. NYPD officers from the 72nd Precinct and Transit District 34 responded to the call of the incident, which continues to be under active investigation. In the meantime,, the suspect is still at large, last seen fleeing the scene on foot.
Police have released photos of the suspect and are calling for the public's assistance in this case. The individual wanted in connection with the assault is depicted wearing a dark blue-and-black jacket and tan pants. "Police on Monday released photos of the suspect, who remains at large," as reported by AM New York.
In concurrence, the NYPD Crimestoppers program shared the information on social media, stating, "WANTED FOR ASSAULT: On Sunday, January 18, 2026, at approximately 4:55 AM, a 35-year-old male victim was standing on the southbound "R" platform at the 36 Street subway station, confines of the 72 Precinct/Transit District 34, when he was approached by an unidentified individual. The individual pushed the male victim who fell onto the subway tracks." This notice, posted on their Facebook page, includes a call to action for anyone with information to come forward.
