A shooting occurred yesterday morning near the Chinatown-International District in Seattle, leaving a man seriously injured. The 27-year-old victim sustained injuries consistent with a shotgun blast and was initially taken to Swedish Hospital, according to the Seattle Police Department's Blotter. He is currently reported to be in serious but stable condition at Harborview Medical Center.
The incident occurred around 2:45 a.m. at the corner of 12th Avenue South and South Main Street, following a large disturbance after the closure of a nearby hookah lounge. Officers responded to reports of shots fired and made contact with the 34-year-old business owner, who stated that he had discharged his handgun to disperse the crowd. After an interview with detectives from the Gun Violence Reduction Unit (GVRU), the business owner was released.
The Seattle Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident and has not established a confirmed link between the disturbance at the hookah lounge and the subsequent shooting. No suspects have been arrested in connection with the shooting, which took place in a parking lot across from the lounge.
Authorities confirm that an unidentified individual armed with a shotgun caused the victim’s injuries. Anyone with information related to the investigation is asked to contact the Seattle Police Department at (206) 233-5000.
