Marietta residents, take note: The city is closing down its government operations for today due to the threat posed by winter's icy grip. City officials have announced that because of the inclement weather and the risks associated with potentially hazardous travel conditions, key administrative buildings — including Marietta City Hall, the Board of Lights and Water (BLW) Administrative Offices, and the Marietta Municipal Court — will be entirely shuttered for the day.
All city sanitation collection services scheduled for today are suspended. This temporary disruption will result in a one-day delay in trash collection, with Monday’s garbage scheduled for pickup on Tuesday, and subsequent collections adjusted accordingly. Thursday and Friday services will proceed as planned. Brush collection services have been rescheduled for Saturday to accommodate any remaining winter debris.
For updated information on the city's operations during this frost-laden standstill, residents can visit the official City of Marietta's website, or check out their social media channels. In the event of power outages or related storm updates, the Marietta Power Outage & Storm Center offers real-time notifications and assistance.
It is advised that, during this time, individuals avoid unnecessary travel and stay abreast of the latest weather developments via the National Weather Service. In the case of a life-threatening emergency, residents should not hesitate to call 9-1-1. For non-urgent matters, the Marietta Police Department can be reached at 770-794-5300, providing aid and information to those impacted by the storm's effects.
