
Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens was sworn in for a second term at the Georgia State University Convocation Center. His daughter, Bailey, held the Bible as hundreds attended, including former mayors Andrew Young, Bill Campbell, Shirley Franklin, and Kasim Reed. In his address, Dickens highlighted achievements in public safety, education, housing, and social services.
With 85% of the vote in his reelection, Dickens highlighted Atlanta’s declining crime rates and educational achievements. He noted that the city saw one of the largest reductions in violent crime nationally, finishing 2025 with fewer than 100 homicides, and pointed to youth programs and the city’s highest graduation rate to date. He also referenced affordable housing initiatives, with more than 13,000 units started or completed during his term.
At the swearing-in ceremony with the full City Council and new Council President Marci Collier Overstreet, Dickens addressed ongoing issues affecting Atlanta’s vulnerable populations, including homelessness and socioeconomic disparities, and outlined plans for continued efforts to address these challenges, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.
As per 11Alive, Mayor Dickens expressed gratitude to Atlanta residents for their support. He referenced his years in public service, cited inspiration from former mayors, and outlined ongoing commitments to infrastructure development and addressing the Buckhead secession issue.
