Mecklenburg County is expanding mental health service accessibility for its residents in need. Partnering with Anuvia Prevention and Recovery Center, locals can now seek up to eight free counseling sessions at any Mecklenburg County Community Resource Center (CRC), no appointment necessary, as reported by MeckNC.gov. Walk-ins are encouraged, easing the path to obtaining professional and compassionate support.
These services are vital as over one in five adults struggled with mental health issues in 2024, grappling with conditions like major depressive disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder. "They made it so easy to connect with the services when I really needed them," a client told MeckNC.gov, after receiving aid during a crisis at the Ella B. Scarborough Center. Licensed Anuvia counselors are on hand to assist those dealing with varied concerns from stress to substance use.
Following the adoption of its 2024 Behavioral Health Strategic Plan, the county continues its commitment to community wellbeing, directing public funds to strengthen behavioral health services.
Residents can find solace and assistance Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at locations such as the Ella B. Scarborough Community Resource Center on Stitt Road and the Valerie C. Woodard Community Resource Center on Freedom Drive. Whether engaging in a crisis or managing ongoing mental health concerns, no individual is turned away, regardless of insurance status. This inclusive approach aims at forging a more resilient community by ensuring mental health care is within reach of every resident.
