Mecklenburg County is stepping up its efforts to support at-risk youth, with the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) now accepting funding applications aimed at organizations dedicated to intervention and prevention. According to Mecklenburg County website, a substantial sum of $2 million has been earmarked for the fiscal year 2026-2027, an investment that hopes to bring tangible improvements to young lives and community well-being. Sonya L. Harper, director of Mecklenburg County Criminal Justice Services, underscored the commitment in her statement, "JCPC is dedicated to finding and supporting programs and organizations that make meaningful change in the lives of our at-risk youth."

Criminal Justice Services continues to champion JCPC’s mission of supporting at-risk youth. The council has a long history of backing mentoring programs, vocational training, and behavioral health support. Organizations interested in applying for funding should visit the official website and note that the application deadline is February 13.

Attendance at a pre-bid information session is required for all applicants. These sessions, scheduled for January 28 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center, ensure participants understand the application process and expectations. Applications from those who do not attend will not be considered.
