As Milwaukee braces for a cocktail of wet and wintry weather, residents can expect to see conditions flip from partly sunny skies today to potential rain and fog by tonight, followed by a mix of rain and snow as the week progresses. The National Weather Service of Milwaukee delivered the latest forecast, highlighting a near 38-degree high today with winds remaining calm into the afternoon.
Tonight, rain is "likely, mainly after 5am" with the advent of patchy fog after 4am, and despite calm winds becoming east around 5 mph, commuters may want to keep a watchful eye on the roads with a "chance of precipitation is 60%." Milwaukee has a low dipping around 32 degrees, and while the expected rainfall amounts to less than a tenth of an inch, it's still wise to prep for slippery streets and limited visibility, as noted by the National Weather Service.
Heading into Tuesday, rain is forecasted to persist before noon, combined with patchy fog clearing by the afternoon; daily highs are expected to hover around 40 degrees. But it's not only the rain that's causing a stir – the National Weather Service has also issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook, alerting to potential freezing rain towards central Wisconsin, and the possibility of "patchy dense freezing fog" tonight which could impair early morning visibility. This Outlook affects a wide range of counties including, but not limited to, Marquette, Green Lake, and Fond du Lac.
The tumultuous weather continues into the latter half of the week with the National Weather Service predicting chances of rain after noon on Thursday and an increased likelihood on Friday. Saturday may offer a mix of rain and snow, but by Sunday, Milwaukee should see "Mostly sunny, with a high near 29." Despite the fluctuations, the National Weather Service assures that "Spotter activation will not be needed", signaling no immediate severe weather threats on the horizon. Still, citizens should stay vigilant and rely on local updates as conditions evolve.
