Missouri residents will soon get a glimpse into Governor Mike Kehoe's vision for the upcoming year as he prepares to deliver the 2026 State of the State Address on Tuesday, January 13. The address, which will outline his legislative priorities and fiscal plans for Fiscal Year 2027, is slated for a 3:00 p.m. start, directly from the House Chamber at the Missouri State Capitol. In anticipation of the speech, media entities are invited to a briefing where Budget Director Dan Haug will provide insights on Governor Kehoe's proposed General Revenue Budget. This briefing, scheduled from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m., will offer embargoed budget summaries to the press. For those who cannot attend in person, the address will be livestreamed across various platforms including the Governor's official Facebook, X, YouTube, and on mo.gov/live.
According to a press release from the Office of Governor Kehoe, media planning to cover the event at the State Capitol should get in touch with Ben Peters at [email protected] or call 573-751-4043 to sort out accommodations within the House Chamber. Accompanying the State of the State Address, the press will also receive an embargoed copy of the address to facilitate immediate coverage. Detailed satellite access instructions are attached for media outlets looking to broadcast the event remotely.
In line with the media advisory shared on January 7, the budget overview briefing will bear the tag of 'Embargoed and on Background until Start of Speech.' This approach suggests that while journalists will receive pertinent information ahead of time, such data remains under wraps until the governor begins his address.
