In the Show-Me State, officials are highlighting a critical health measure for homeowners and renters alike: radon testing. The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services issued a warning that radon, an invisible and odorless gas, is not to be taken lightly—as it stands as a top cause of lung cancer for those who do not smoke. According to a social media post from the department, around 21,000 Americans are claimed by its effects annually.
In response, the state is not only urging residents to be wary of this threat but also to proactively get ahead of it. To facilitate this, Missouri is distributing free radon test kits, allowing individuals to assess their living spaces for this carcinogenic peril. "Protect your family from the invisible threat of radon gas by getting a free radon test kit for your home or apartment," the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services stated in the social media post. To quickly secure one of these free test kits, Missouri inhabitants are encouraged to visit the Department's website.
