In a sobering account of justice being served, the Stanislaus County District Attorney's Office has announced the conviction of Douglas Kent Jensen, a 60-year-old Modesto resident, on several counts of sexual assault involving minors. According to the Facebook post announcement by the Stanislaus County District Attorney, a jury found Jensen guilty of continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14, three counts of oral copulation of a child under the age of 10, three counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14 and the enhancements for assaulting multiple children.
A life sentence now looms over Jensen following his conviction, marking a grim end to the atrocious acts he committed over several years; the abuses surfaced after a tip prompted the Modesto Police Department to act. With a rapid response to the tip, detectives launched an investigation that collected evidence confirming Jensen's repeated abuse of two children – which led to his subsequent arrest, the Stanislaus County District Attorney's post stated.
Deputy District Attorney Larissa Jones spearheaded the prosecution of this case, representing the people's demands for accountability and justice. "The District Attorney’s Victim Services Unit provided support to the victims in this case," the Stanislaus County District Attorney noted, reaffirming the county's commitment to not just prosecution, but also to the ongoing support for those harmed. These efforts underscore the broader responsibility towards the community's most vulnerable members, ensuring they're not left to navigate the aftermath alone.
