Andrew Edick, a registered Level 2 sex offender in Mohawk, New York, pled guilty to charges related to producing child sexual abuse material involving two separate minors. Edick, 39, entered the plea before his trial, which was set to begin on February 2, 2026, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of New York.
In 2012, Edick had been convicted for sexual misconduct with a 14-year-old. Despite his sex offender status, he continued to commit crimes, admitting in his guilty plea that in summer 2022 he filmed and distributed sexually exploitative content of children, one born in 2013 and another in 2009. The details, which mentioned Edick's transport of the video via Facebook and instructing a child to delete evidence, surface disturbing insights into his criminal conduct.
The investigation leading to the arrest was a collaboration between Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the U.S. Attorney’s Office, resulting in the recovery of a cellphone containing abusive material. "Andrew Edick is a relentless sexual predator, whose nightmarish crimes are over," Acting U.S. Attorney John A. Sarcone III stated in an announcement on the U.S. Attorney's Office, Northern District of New York, spotlighting the joint efforts of prosecutors and HSI in securing the conviction.
Set for sentencing on May 29, 2026, Edick faces a potential term ranging from a mandatory minimum of 25 years to a maximum of 100 years in prison. He's also looking at a period of supervised release of five years to life, alongside a fine and the responsibility for restitution to his victims. The case was part of Project Safe Childhood, a national initiative aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse, highlighting the ongoing work by authorities to protect children against such crimes.
