Grapevine is getting ready to stack another hotel into its already busy mall-and-airport corridor, with plans for a five-story AC Hotel by Marriott just south of Grapevine Mills. The project is slated for roughly 200 guest rooms and extra meeting space in the Silverlake area, and city planners say it is aimed squarely at convention traffic and shoppers headed for Grapevine Mills, DFW International Airport and the Bass Pro Shops complex.
The deal cleared a key hurdle when the Grapevine City Council and the Planning & Zoning Commission approved a conditional use permit for the site at 1701 State Highway 26. That approval allows a five-story, 200-room hotel and gives the project permission to rise above the usual 50-foot height cap for the property. The action appears in official records as agenda item CU25-16, according to the City of Grapevine.
Developer and plans
Newcrest Image is listed as the developer, and managing partner Mehul “Mike” Patel has said the AC-branded hotel will sit next to the company’s existing office in the Silverlake complex. The firm has held the land for years and is now ready to flip the switch on a hotel project it says will add meeting capacity and create dozens of full- and part-time jobs, as reported by Community Impact.
Amenities and building size
The planned AC Hotel would cover about 122,000 square feet and stretch across five floors, according to project details reported by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Plans call for a 700-square-foot pool, a fitness center, multiple meeting rooms and a full-service restaurant. Grapevine planning director Erica Marohnic told the paper the city signed off on a height increase to 71 feet so the design could fit on the site.
Timeline and permitting
Developer statements and city filings outline a long runway for the project. Newcrest Image has told local outlets it expects a 24–30 month construction schedule once work actually begins and has previously floated an early 2029 opening target. Those timing estimates come from developer comments and official paperwork summarized by Community Impact.
Local impact
City budget documents frame the AC Hotel as part of a broader push to expand visitor lodging around Grapevine Mills and the northeast side of town. The project is listed as one of several anticipated investments expected to drive construction activity and visitor spending in that area, according to the city's budget documents.
Before any dirt turns, the hotel still has to clear detailed construction planning and building-permit review with city departments. Officials say developers are continuing to refine plans with staff, and the remaining permits are not yet in hand. Those outstanding steps will dictate when the project actually breaks ground, and a final construction schedule is expected to be announced once permits are secured, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
