The North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) is gearing up for some nighttime construction work that's bound to reroute your usual drive. From Monday, January 19, to Wednesday, January 21, drivers cruising on northbound I-35E to hop onto the President George Bush Turnpike will need to tap those brakes. The direct-connector ramps to both eastbound and westbound PGBT will be closed each night from 8 p.m. through the graveyard shift, ending at 5 a.m., according to a City of Carrollton announcement.
This little traffic tango is part of the bigger dance that is TDOT's I-35E Phase 2 Project, which, among other things, involves some serious drainage work. For those gearing up to head eastbound on PGBT, you’ll detour via Frankford Road and Midway Road before getting back on track. Those aiming westbound will be redirected over to Sandy Lake Road and then sent along the PGBT frontage road to find their way home – or wherever the night is taking them.
But let's not forget those handy message boards, set to be in place nearby to give you a heads up on these closures. And while it's all systems go for these planned closures, bear in mind that they're not set in stone; they’re subject to the whims of the weather and may be postponed if Mother Nature decides to stir things up in the area.
