A 21-year-old Milwaukee man is facing felony charges in a Jan. 10 north-side shooting that left two people dead and a teenager wounded near 34th Street and Sheridan. What began as an encounter beside a car quickly spiraled into gunfire, leaving detectives to piece together surveillance footage and shell casings while they track suspects. Police say the violence unfolded during what prosecutors describe as an attempted robbery, and investigators are still asking anyone with information to come forward.
Court records show prosecutors have charged 21-year-old Dashawn Conner with two counts of felony murder and a gun-possession felony. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, according to FOX6 Milwaukee. Prosecutors say they moved forward after reviewing surveillance video and ballistics testing that tied multiple weapons to the scene. Records also indicate Conner was previously convicted on three counts of armed robbery and was released to extended supervision in June 2025, per the state Department of Corrections files. In a police interview summarized in the criminal complaint, Conner first denied being at the scene, then later said he took part and that he was shot in the leg and returned fire.
Milwaukee police were called just before 6:15 p.m. on Jan. 10 for reports of a crash and gunfire. Officers arrived to find a vehicle stalled in the middle of 34th Street just south of Silver Spring Drive, authorities said. Inside, they discovered 20-year-old Zy'kerion Teague unconscious in the front passenger seat. He was later pronounced dead, and a 16-year-old in the car was shot and ran to a nearby gas station for help, according to TMJ4. At that point, police had made no arrests as the investigation got underway.
Video, Shell Casings And A Trail Of Clues
Prosecutors say surveillance cameras from several nearby businesses captured critical moments in the shooting. The footage shows someone leaning into the rear driver's-side door, a gunshot going off inside the car, and then repeated gunfire aimed at the vehicle's rear windshield, according to the criminal complaint. Investigators say two people, including 17-year-old Jorey Anderson, bolted from the backseat as shots rang out. Officers later recovered a handgun in the street next to the driver's-side door, along with multiple shell casings and two bullet strikes on the car. Ballistics testing concluded that three different guns were used in the incident, according to FOX6 Milwaukee.
Grief, Questions And A Teen Found Hours Later
Relatives remembered Teague as a devoted father and aspiring musician who "lit up the room," his cousin told reporters, underscoring the personal toll of the violence, per TMJ4. Documents reviewed by local outlets show the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner reported that Anderson's body was found in a nearby yard about 14 hours after the shooting. Investigators are still working to explain why it took so long for him to be discovered, according to WISN 12. Authorities continue to ask anyone with video or information to contact the Milwaukee Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
Court Dates, Crime Stoppers And An Ongoing Probe
Conner is set to return to circuit court for an initial appearance while prosecutors prepare their case and continue reviewing forensic evidence. Milwaukee police are urging anyone with footage or tips to call (414) 935-7360 or submit anonymous information to Crime Stoppers at (414) 224-TIPS.
