February in Oregon is shaping up to be a busy month for civic engagement, with a series of advisory committee meetings scheduled and open to public observation and participation. As the eyes and ears of our democratic processes, these committee meetings provide a platform for citizens to stay informed and contribute to the state's decision-making concerning various sectors from transportation to public services.
The lineup includes the Jurisdictional Transfer Advisory Committee, meeting on February 3 at 11 a.m. and February 11 at noon, and the Driver Education Advisory Committee assembling on February 5 at 10 a.m. Each committee meeting represents a chance for public voices to be heard, providing an opportunity for the exchange of ideas and for stakeholders to impart their perspectives—crucial elements in the ongoing dialogue of state administration. While the schedules seem packed, accommodation has been promised for persons with disabilities and those who require materials in alternative formats. Indeed, those who are deaf or hard of hearing can connect through a statewide relay at 711.
Further meetings include the Oregon Transportation Safety Committee, slated for February 11 at 9:30 a.m., and the Public Transportation Advisory Committee, set to convene February 12 at 9 a.m. The Mobility Advisory Committee follows on the same day, February 12, but in the afternoon at 1 p.m., discussing issues related to the mobility of Oregonians. With these committees working in tandem, February seems poised to address the myriad challenges and opportunities presented by the state's transportation infrastructure.
As February marches toward its end, the Continuous Improvement Advisory Committee is holding a meeting on February 18 at 1 p.m. The pace doesn't slow, with the ACEC-ODOT Liaison Committee gathering on February 20 at 9 a.m., and the Safety and Mobility Policy Advisory Committee wrapping up the month with a meeting on February 25 at 10 a.m. These meetings show the state’s commitment to inclusivity and progress, addressing the needs of all Oregonians. Agendas and other details will be available on the Oregon Department of Transportation’s bulletin and Oregon’s Public Meetings website so everyone can stay informed.
